What I believe about running
a trade business

A trade business should feel organised and manageable — not chaotic.

You shouldn’t finish a full day on the tools and then start a second shift at the dining room table doing quotes, messages and paperwork. Being busy all the time isn’t the goal, and working every evening isn’t success.

The real goal isn’t more work. It’s better work.

The right clients. Clear jobs booked ahead. Invoices sent on time. Knowing what tomorrow looks like before you go to bed.

You should be able to finish for the day and actually switch off, without wondering what you’ve forgotten or who still needs an invoice.

With the right systems in place, a trade business can run smoothly and predictably. Instead of reacting all day, you’re in control of your time, workload and income — and the business supports your life, not the other way around.

I’ve worked inside plumbing and air-conditioning businesses organising jobs, schedules and customers — and I kept seeing the same problems.

Good tradies weren’t short of work. They were short of systems. The business lived in their head, paperwork happened at night, and switching off never really happened.

How I help

I work with you to put simple, practical systems in place so your business stops relying on memory and late nights.

• A clear process from first customer enquiry through to completed job
• Quoting templates so you can send quotes quickly and consistently
• A visible schedule so you can plan your days and avoid double-booking
• Simple job notes and records so nothing is forgotten on site
• A routine for sending invoices promptly and getting paid faster
• Follow-up reminders to secure repeat work and missed opportunities
• Easy customer communication without everything living in your head

The goal isn’t complicated software or more paperwork — it’s a straightforward way to run your business so you always know what’s happening and what needs attention.

Why this matters to me

I’ve owned and operated award winning small businesses for most of my working life, so I understand the pressure that comes with it. When you’re the owner, everything sits on your shoulders — the work, the customers, the paperwork and the decisions — and it’s very easy for the business to take over your time and your headspace.

After moving to Darwin and working inside a local trade business, I saw how common this was for tradies here. Good operators were working hard all day and then going home to a second shift of quoting, messages and invoices at night, with very little real downtime.

That’s why I started Tradie On Track.

I want local tradies to have businesses that support their life, not consume it. You should be able to finish work, spend time with family and actually switch off without wondering what you’ve forgotten.

Helping tradies get organised and back in control isn’t just a service I offer — it’s something I genuinely care about because I know how much difference it makes to both the business and life outside it.
